Design Juxtaposition

Margaret chose a really unique bi-colour freeform step cut sapphire from my (let's face it, extensive) gemstone collection. What an absolute stunning showstopper of a sapphire! Super bright and alive thanks to the faceting of Melbourne cutter Tia of Pebblesprout.

With a significant amount of gold from an old chain this project allowed me to create a fully handmade paperclip chain and a solid generously sized pendant to house the gorgeous gemstone.

And this is where I absolutely love collaborating with my trusting customers. I instinctively would have designed a very geometric and square edged pendant as the lines of the stone seemed to call for that. Margaret wanted something softer, more organic and with a rough finish. We trusted each other and I absolutely love the result we got - and so did she.

A handmade toggle clasp with a shorter option built into the chain makes for easy closure and multiple wear options. The clasp becomes yet another feature of the entire piece.
