How do you breathe new life into an heirloom that doesn't quite suit your vibe? Switch out the main gemstone!
Now, this isn't always a straightforward option for many reasons such as metal type/other stones/design elements, however in both cases detailed below we managed to really change the look and feel of these vintage rings.

The 18c yellow gold & old cut diamond ring on the left had the centre stone removed and repurposed into a brand new ring so I added a new little setting for a stunning 0.31ct Madagascan ruby. The new setting could be soldered into place because the diamonds can take almost direct heat without any damage. The addition of the coloured gem to this antique style really created a whole new feel to this beautiful and timeless design.

The ring on the left in 18c white gold had a very, very worn little semi precious gem that protruded quite a lot, making the ring uncomfortable to wear. I removed the centre sapphire from the ring on the right and made a new bezel setting that seemed to drop perfectly into the space left in the ornate ring. The addition of some colour and a more contemporary setting transformed this ring from worn and traditional to a comfortable, wearable future heirloom.
